Nearly everybody has a story of someone who has inspired them at some point in their lives by embodying the code of chivalry, or one of the knightly virtues -- their mother or father, a teacher from high school, a patient police officer, the kindly boss they once worked for, or even a son or daughter who stood by their principles in a moment of crisis or temptation.

If you know a modern-day knight in shining armor, please share your story with us by sending an e-mail to stories@ChivalryToday.com. Your experiences and reflections are an important part of the growing awareness of chivalry today. We encourage readers of all ages to submit their stories for consideration for our Portraits in Chivalry section. Here are a few guidelines you might wish to keep in mind when composing your letter or story:

1. We prefer true (non-fiction) stories which involve personal experience — tell us about an individual you know personally, or an encounter you witnessed yourself.
2. Try to focus on one of the knightly virtues:
   courage, justice, generosity, mercy, faith, nobility or hope.
   Does your knight in shining armor exemplify one of these qualities? If so, tell us how.
3. Be concise! Letters and stories of chivalry today are limited to 1,000 words.
4. You may submit as many stories as you wish, as often as you wish.
   Please submit separate stories as individual e-mails.
5. As our way of saying thanks, all contributors whose stories are used on the website will receive a free Chivalry Today mousepad.
6. Please write "Chivalry Today Story" in the subject line of your e-mail. Contributors whose stories are selected for our "Portraits in Chivalry" page will be notified before their story is used. Due to the volume of submissions, we cannot notify contributors whose stories are not selected for use.
7. Although we require contributors to provide their address and telephone number for verification, please be assured that our policy is to keep this information strictly confidential; it will never be used for advertising or promotional purposes. Chivalry Today does not accept anonymous submissions.
8. We reserve the right to edit submissions for length, style, grammar and clarity.
